Volunteering

Introducing UpashikSa, a youth volunteering initiative by next generation Upakriti volunteers.

Under UpashikSa (which means “desire of learning” in Sanskrit), youth volunteers participate in STEM (Science-Technology-Engineering-Math) initiatives to bring parity in education for children across the globe. By sharing curricula and tutoring kids at middle/high school level, UpashikSa strives to bring forth a desire to learn STEM in a fun and practical way, thereby preparing kids for future careers as engineers, doctors, lawyers, architects, scientists etc.

In its initial period, 2 of the current youth volunteers Advay and Anvita have been able to share their academics, create new methods to make STEM fun and creative for SOCARE kids in 9th/10th grade in India by doing weekend classes with them over video conferencing. Students are more excited in learning different subjects, ask questions and clarify answers among peers, look forward to appearing in exams with more self-confidence and beginning to chase their future dreams beyond high school level.

This humble but profound endeavor by youth volunteers is a small step in connecting children across the globe and making STEM fun and exciting.

Please watch this space for next level details on bringing more kids into this exciting endeavor.
